Peru's president, Keiko Fujimori, is paid 35,568 soles a month, the amount set in July 2025 by [Supreme Decree 136-2025-EF](https://lpderecho.pe/aumento-sueldo-dina-boluarte-decreto-supremo-136-2025-ef/). Fujimori took office on July 28, 2026, for the 2026-2031 term. According to the Transparency Portal, she received 39,124.80 soles in August, Infobae reported. That month includes days from July: the difference, 3,556.80 soles, is exactly three days of pay, although the portal does not break it down.

|---|---|---|
| President's monthly pay | 35,568 soles | Supreme Decree 136-2025-EF |
| Equivalent in dollars | About US$10,300 | Office of the President (April 2026) |
| Payment recorded in August 2026 | 39,124.80 soles | Transparency Portal, via Infobae |

| Former president's pension | 15,600 soles | Law 26519 |
Why she received 39,124.80 soles in August
The Transparency Portal reports the amount but not its breakdown, and we found no official explanation. There is a useful precedent: in April 2026 the Office of the President told the Andina news agency that President José María Balcázar, who took office on February 18, received the pro-rated amount for his February days in his March payslip.
Applying the same approach, Fujimori's August payment would include the last days of July. With pay of 35,568 soles divided over 30 days, three days come to exactly 3,556.80 soles, the observed difference. It is the most likely explanation, but it has not been confirmed by the presidency.
How the presidential salary has changed since 2001
| Period | President | Monthly pay |
|---|---|---|
| 2001-2006 | Alejandro Toledo | 42,000 soles |
| 2006 | Alan García cuts it | 15,600 soles |
| 2006-2025 | García, Humala, Kuczynski, Vizcarra, Sagasti, Castillo and Boluarte | 15,600 soles (unchanged) |
| July 2025 | Dina Boluarte (Supreme Decree 136-2025-EF) | 35,568 soles |
| Since July 28, 2026 | Keiko Fujimori | 35,568 soles |
The series was compiled by the magazine Caretas. The 2025 adjustment was the first in almost two decades and more than doubled the salary. The decree relied on the Civil Service Law and a comparative study of presidential salaries in other countries in the region.

Will Fujimori cut her salary?
No rule changes the amount. In August, minister Sheput explained that cutting the presidential salary would affect the whole pay scale of the executive branch, which is set from that ceiling, and would "drive away human capital," Infobae reported. The decree remains in force unless it is amended.

What Supreme Decree 136-2025-EF says
- What it sets: the president's monthly compensation at 35,568 soles.
- When: it was published in El Peruano on July 4, 2025, signed by then-president Dina Boluarte and Economy Minister Raúl Pérez Reyes.
- Legal basis: Article 52 of Law 30057, the Civil Service Law, which allows the executive to set by decree the pay of elected officials.
- Funding: the Office of the President's budget, with no additional cost to the Treasury.
That is how LP Derecho, which reproduces the decree, summarises it. In April 2026 the Office of the President insisted that the amount is not a raise decided by whoever holds the post but the application of the legal framework in force.
A precedent: Balcázar's pro-rated pay
| President | Took office | Payment reported | What it included |
|---|---|---|---|
| José María Balcázar | February 18, 2026 | 15,412.80 soles for his February days | Paid in the March payslip (Office of the President) |
| Keiko Fujimori | July 28, 2026 | 39,124.80 soles in August | No public breakdown |
