The data come from Netflix's weekly TV Top 10 for Chile, which the platform publishes every Tuesday. We processed the full file: 673 different series have made the list at some point. The count adds up all the seasons of each title, and titles appear as Netflix lists them.
The Colombian phenomenon
Pasión de Gavilanes, Yo soy Betty, la fea, The Queen of Flow, Pablo Escobar, el patrón del mal, Café con aroma de mujer and Til Money Do Us Part add up to 302 weeks in the Top 10. Pasión de Gavilanes was on the list one week in three over the period measured, even though it dropped off in June 2023.
The explanation lies in the format. A telenovela has more than a hundred episodes: whoever starts one stays for months, whereas an eight-episode series is watched over a weekend and vanishes from the ranking. That is why Pablo Escobar, el patrón del mal has 42 weeks without ever having been number one.

- It measures staying power, not audience. By country, Netflix publishes each week's rank, not hours viewed. A series with 30 weeks in tenth place adds up to more than a four-week phenomenon in first.
- It starts in July 2021. Whatever a series accumulated before that is not counted.
- It depends on the catalogue. A title stops counting when it leaves Netflix. Yo soy Betty, la fea appears for the last time in July 2022.
- It adds up seasons. Stranger Things combines five seasons; Pasión de Gavilanes, two.
