Riding public transport in the Buenos Aires Metropolitan Area (AMBA) costs more since Sunday, November 1, 2026: the minimum fare on City buses rose 3.9% to ARS 956.69, and on provincial lines 5% to ARS 1,276.06, both with a registered SUBE card. The subway went from ARS 1,817 to ARS 1,887, according to the fare tables issued by the City and the Province and reported by TN and Radio Mitre.
Not everything goes up. The 104 national-jurisdiction lines, which run between the capital and the suburbs, keep the minimum fare at ARS 742.81, because the national government chose to raise subsidies to the companies instead of approving another increase, according to Infobae and El Cronista. Metropolitan trains do not change either: the minimum fare has been ARS 480 since September 1, according to Perfil.
The result is a map with three different prices for the same 3-kilometer ride depending on who runs the line. Below are November's fares, how they are calculated and how much the Buenos Aires transport increase weighs on monthly spending.

Why national bus lines and trains are not going up in November
Argentina's national Transport Secretariat published on Monday, November 2, the resolution that updates the costs of national lines in the metro area for October, November and December 2026 and January 2027, retroactive to October. The rule, signed by Secretary Mariano Plencovich, raises compensation to the companies by 10% to 15% and approves a payment of ARS 38.84 billion for June to September, according to El Cronista.
The deal came after the operators threatened to cut night service. According to the companies, the unsubsidized technical fare would be ARS 2,494.13 per passenger: the state covers the gap with the ARS 742.81 fare, equal to 70.2% of the cost. Between May and July the national government had allowed 2% monthly increases, and since August the fare has been frozen, according to Infobae.
For trains, the last adjustment was on September 1, when the minimum fare with a registered SUBE card rose 14.29% to ARS 480, at the end of a phased schedule. Another increase would require a new order from the Transport Secretariat, which does not exist so far, according to Perfil.

How much the Buenos Aires transport increase weighs on monthly spending
The formula used by the City and the Province adds INDEC's latest inflation figure, 1.9% in September, plus two percentage points. That is why transport in the Buenos Aires area rises faster than the overall price index, month after month. To estimate the impact, Vivarae calculated the cost of 44 rides a month (a round trip on 22 working days) at each jurisdiction's minimum fare, without transfer discounts.
| Jurisdiction | Minimum fare | Cost of 44 rides a month |
|---|---|---|
| Provincial bus | ARS 1,276.06 | ARS 56,146.64 |
| City bus | ARS 956.69 | ARS 42,094.36 |
| National bus | ARS 742.81 | ARS 32,683.64 |
| Train (minimum fare) | ARS 480 | ARS 21,120 |
| Subway (44 rides with discounts) | ARS 1,887 to 1,320.90 | ARS 70,573.80 |
Our calculation with November fares. The subway adds 20 rides at ARS 1,887, 10 at ARS 1,509.60, 10 at ARS 1,320.90 and 4 at ARS 1,132.20.
November also brings increases in electricity, gas, private health plans and schools, detailed by Infobae.
