Peru has 16 national public holidays in 2027. Seven fall on a Friday or Monday and create long weekends, and Easter (Thursday March 25 and Friday March 26) gives four days in a row. The holidays are set by Legislative Decree 713 and the laws that added dates in recent years, such as June 7, July 23, August 6 and December 9, according to the calendar published by El Comercio.

Public-sector non-working days
In addition to holidays, the Presidency of the Council of Ministers usually declares non-working days for the public sector by supreme decree. In 2026, for example, Supreme Decree 075-2026-PCM declared Monday July 27 a non-working day. The 2027 days have not been published yet.
- Holiday: mandatory rest for all workers.
- Non-working day: mandatory for the public sector; in the private sector it depends on an agreement with the employer.
- Public-sector hours for a non-working day are made up later.
How much you are paid if you work a holiday
Under Legislative Decree 713, anyone who works a holiday without a substitute rest day receives pay for the day plus a 100% surcharge. With the new S/ 1,230 minimum wage, a day is worth S/ 41, so a worked holiday pays at least S/ 82 extra. See the increase in the minimum wage in Peru 2026.

Peru has the same number of national holidays as Argentina (public holidays in Argentina 2027) and more than Mexico (public holidays in Mexico 2027). Chile has 17 (public holidays in Chile 2027).
