Black Friday 2026 is on Friday, November 27. No retailer decides the date: it is the day after Thanksgiving in the United States, which always falls on the fourth Thursday of November. In Chile, the official version is organised by the Santiago Chamber of Commerce (CCS), which at the time of writing had not yet announced this year's details. Here is what is already known, how the last edition went and what to check so you do not overpay.

In 2025 the official event ran for four days, from Friday, November 28 to Monday, December 1. If the CCS repeats the format, this year it would run from November 27 to 30. We will confirm it here when the announcement comes out.

How the last official edition went

The CCS press release of November 19, 2025 gives an idea of the size of the event. 460 brands took part, with offers in more than 20 categories, and the official site mapped more than 2,000 physical stores of the participating brands.

According to the chamber, it has coordinated Black Friday in the country since 2020, together with the chambers of commerce of Valparaíso and Puerto Montt. Offers in the official event carry a seal certifying that the brand takes part formally. The details are in the CCS press release.

Black Friday, CyberDay and Cyber Monday: how they differ

EventTime of yearWhere you buyOrganiser
CyberDayMid-yearOnlineSantiago Chamber of Commerce
Cyber MondaySecond half of the year, before NovemberOnlineSantiago Chamber of Commerce
Black FridayLate NovemberOnline and in physical storesSantiago Chamber of Commerce, in its official version

The main difference is the channel. The Cyber events are e-commerce events. Black Friday adds physical stores, which is why the official site includes a map of shops. The timing also changes: it is the last sales event before Christmas, and many people use it to buy presents early.

Watch the names. Any shop can advertise a 'Black Friday' on its own, and there are sites that use the name with no link to the CCS. That does not make them illegal, but only brands in the official event go through the chamber's verification.

How to spot a real deal

The classic complaint about these events is the inflated price: raising the figure a few days earlier and then showing a discount that does not exist. These checks take a few minutes and prevent most bad purchases.

  • Write down the price now. Choose what you want to buy and record its price several weeks ahead. It is the only sure way to know whether the discount is real.
  • Compare between shops. A 40% discount on a high price can be worse than a competitor's normal price.
  • Look at the final price. Add shipping and check whether the discount requires a specific payment method.
  • Go in through the official site. The CCS recommends reaching shops from the event page, which gathers the retailers with the seal.
  • Be wary of links that arrive by message. Fake shops copy the design of real ones. Check the site address before paying.
  • Keep the receipt and a screenshot of the offer. They help if you need to complain later.

Your rights if something goes wrong

Black Friday purchases carry the same rights as any other. The shop must honour the published price, deliver within the stated time and answer for faulty products. Online purchases also have a right of withdrawal, which lets you change your mind within a set period, unless the shop explicitly excluded it before the purchase.

The official event has its own channel for complaints. It is called Resolución en Línea (Online Resolution), it was developed by the CCS with its Arbitration and Mediation Centre, and in 2025 around 200 brands had signed up. If the shop does not respond, the next step is Sernac, the national consumer service. The chamber also runs the Confianza Digital platform, with a checklist for detecting fake shops.

How much is worth spending

A deal is only a saving if you were going to buy that product anyway. It helps to set a cap before the event and compare it with the month's income. As a reference, the minimum wage in Chile is CLP 553,553, and a television on offer can cost more than half that figure.

It is also worth looking at instalments. A 20% discount paid in 12 instalments with interest can end up costing the same as the normal price. To understand how much prices rise from one year to the next, see our ranking of inflation in Chile. The 2027 dates are in our public holiday calendar, useful for planning the year.

One figure to set expectations: in 2025, the three categories with most brands, which were health and beauty, clothing and footwear, and home, accounted for 161 of the 460 participants, just over a third. Technology, the category most associated with these events, had 25 brands. It is worth checking in advance whether the shop you are interested in appears in the official list.
